NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — If you are a homeowner or an owner of a building with up to nine residential units in New York City, you could soon face fines for not using an NYC Bin.
The NYC Department of Sanitation announced that the warning period for failing to use NYC Bins to set out trash ends on Labor Day.

Those caught not using an NYC Bin face fines starting at $50. Summonses and fines will be issued beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Fines increase to $100 for the second offense and $200 for the third and subsequent offenses.
An official NYC Bin is required for trash setout only.
