Cops released surveillance footage Thursday of a suspect wanted for stabbing a man to death, with the victim collapsing on the steps of his Queens home and discovered bleeding out by his mom.
The footage shows the suspect making a purchase in what appears to be a liquor store, though it isn’t clear if that was there before or after the murder of Jose Scott, 33. The NYPD is asking the public’s help identifying the suspect and tracking him down.
Scott was stabbed multiple times in front of a laundromat on Merrick Blvd. near 221st St., just down the block from his Laurelton home, about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, police said. The victim stumbled home and was found on the front steps by his mother.
“He was still conscious when I found him here on our doorstep,” Debra Scott told the Daily News earlier this week. “He was bleeding a lot. He said, ‘Help! Help me!’”

Medics rushed Scott, a father of two, to Jamaica Hospital but he could not be saved.
Police don’t know what sparked the stabbing.
“We’re all trying to figure out who would do this to him. We can’t even fathom,” said Scott’s sister, Keturah Chatman, 34. “Our family is heartbroken.”
Scott, according to records, served two prison terms for criminal contempt, stemming from one convictions in Queens and Nassau County. He was conditionally released by parole in 2022 in the Long Island case.

“My brother was a good person and a great father,“ another sister, Shakiema Scott, 37, said. “He was a hard-working personal trainer.“
“He worked with all the young kids in the neighborhood,“ she added. “He looked out for them. He tried to show them a different way to get them off the streets. He was beloved in the community.”
