Football season officially starts Wednesday, Sept. 9, kicking off with a game between the Patriots and Seahawks. What better way to celebrate the start than spending time with your dear friends at a variety of local establishments in western Queens? Here are some spots to watch football games.

 

Pig Beach BBQ

Pig Beach has it all – great atmosphere, a plethora of TVs, delicious drinks and mouth-watering barbecue food. The industrial-like venue is the perfect hangout spot to catch a football game while drinking some beers with friends. Pig Beach is known for its watch parties, so if you’re a fan of the Jets or Giants, you’ve come to the right place.

Pig Beach BBQ is located at 35-37 36th St. in Astoria. Its hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays from 2 to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 12 to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 10 p.m. They are closed on Mondays.

 

Murphy’s Sports Bar

Known as Astoria’s neighborhood pub, according to their website, it is “Astoria’s favorite place for every game.” This is the spot to watch games for any Bills fan. With big-screen TVs filling up the walls, happy hour offers from 12 to 6 p.m. and outdoor and indoor seating, this is the spot to chill with your friends while cheering for your favorite team.

Murphy’s Sports Bar is located at 45-01 23rd Ave. in Astoria. Its hours are Mondays through Fridays from 12 p.m. to 4 a.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.

 

Rivercrest

Rivercrest is a craft beer bar and restaurant, known for its signature cocktails and, of course, being a premium spot for watching sports. It features a wide array of mouth-watering meals, including the sports bar classics of wings, delicious drinks and an energetic environment, where you will definitely be cheering for your favorite team. 

Rivercrest is located at 33-15 Ditmars Blvd. in Astoria. Its hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m., Fridays from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Established in 2008, Bar 43 is known as a Sunnyside staple, being the local hangout spot where the draft beer is nice and cold, the burgers are fulfilling and the “ever-famous, awesome” atomic wings are sold. Want something a little more private? Bar 43 also allows guests to host private room rentals for a fee.

Bar 43 is located at 43-06 43rd St. in Sunnyside. Its hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Fridays through Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 a.m.

 

McGuinness’s Saloon

The Irish pub McGuinness’s Saloon opened its doors in 1992. It features a classic tavern vibe. With indoor and terrace seating options, McGuinness’s is the spot to watch sports.  It has 11 flat-screen TVs, perfect for watching football at every corner. The pub markets itself as a “home away from home,” making it the perfect place to come together with friends as if you were in an NYC-based sitcom.

McGuinness’s Saloon is located at 44-23 Queens Blvd. in Sunnyside. It is open every day from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.
