Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham have enjoyed a bougie summer in Europe – notably narrowly avoiding a run-in with Brooklyn’s estranged family, who were also holidaying in the South of France earlier this month. But despite their determination to swerve any contact with the Beckhams, insiders tell heat the couple are keen to build bridges with one member of the family – Brooklyn’s 15-year-old sister Harper.

‘Both Brooklyn and Nicola have been doing a lot of soul-searching this summer and speaking to his godfather, Elton John, who they stayed with in France. And while he’s still not ready to speak to his brothers or parents, he does feel a lot of guilt about Harper,’ says a source.

‘Nicola has always said it’s up to Brooklyn how he handles his family situation, and she will support him whatever he chooses to do, but she can see how him not seeing his little sister is starting to eat him up. She also misses Harper and feels bad they no longer see her.’

Before the feud, which escalated spectacularly earlier this year after Brooklyn posted a bombshell Instagram statement slamming his family, Harper was close to Brooklyn and Nicola. Speaking about the teen, Nicola has said, ‘If I could create the perfect dream little sister, it’s her.’

Brooklyn, 27, and Nicola, 31, stayed at Elton John and David Furnish’s summer villa on the French Riviera, spending time with the couple and their two sons. ‘So lovely having you both to stay with us. Such a lovely time we all spent together,’ David posted on Instagram, with Nicola replying, ‘We had the most amazing time. Thank you, David. I love you so much!’

There was a near miss when Brooklyn’s parents stopped off in St Tropez while cruising around the South of France. David and Victoria were seen at a restaurant just a five-minute walk away from an ice-cream parlour. Brooklyn and Nicola were hanging out at around the same time.

Now, our source says Brooklyn and Nicola want to orchestrate a meet-up with Harper, without her parents there. We’re told, ‘They have extended an invitation via family members who Brooklyn is still in contact with for Harper to come and stay with them in LA. But at the moment, David and Vic don’t want that to happen. They would want to be involved in any reunion – their biggest fear is things being organised behind their back.’

Since the feud started, Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, have both appeared to hit out at their elder sibling on social media – and our insider says the relationships are unlikely to be healed any time soon.

In contrast, Harper was pictured attempting to deliver a letter to Brooklyn and Nicola’s LA home, only to be left disappointed as the couple were in New York at the time. A spokesperson for Brooklyn and Nicola criticised the move as a ‘choreographed’ photo opportunity, which the Beckhams in turn said was ‘clearly nonsense’.

Now, the insider says Brooklyn just wants to ‘protect’ his baby sister. We’re told, ‘Brooklyn has made it clear he doesn’t want a reunion with his parents, but he feels Harper shouldn’t be punished for something she has nothing to do with. Brooklyn also knows how much Harper is missing him and Nicola, and thinks she would jump at the chance to see him. Brooklyn feels there is definitely a way around this – he wants to put things right with his little sister, who he has always adored.’

The source continues, ‘He just wants to see her. He would never want to turn Harper against her parents, but he wants to be in her life. Nicola loves Harper and Harper really looks up to Nicola, and they both feel that the relationship can be saved.’
