SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WBNG) — The New York State Fair allows young members of local 4-H organizations to showcase their agricultural achievements to a massive audience.
For many successful participants, this major event represents the peak of their hard work at regional county fairs.
12-year-old Jake Beers of Sherburne recently made his state fair debut after years of presenting animals at his local Chenango County Fair since the age of four.
“[It was] just really exciting, I guess. I have always wanted to do this ever since I was able to show, so,” Beers said.
Event organizers explained that the state fair serves as a respected platform celebrating the dedication and success of young farmers across the state.
“It took a lot of working with my heifer from 5:30 to 9 at night just practicing and doing all the things you need to do to get it ready,” Beers said.
