It’s been an eventful summer already for the royal family of Jordan, and this week they mark another milestone with the birthday of Queen Rania. The queen, who turns 56 on August 31, released a new photo portrait in honor of the big day, and while some might have anticipated a glammed up look, the stylish Rania instead opted for a laidback look that’s perfect for late summer.

It’s giving the “late ‘90s senior photo of your yearbook dreams” and we’re obsessed.
The photo features Rania casually perched on the edge of a flowerbed along a brick-paved garden walkway wearing a classic pair of crisp, straight leg blue jeans and a white t-shirt with subtle lace details at the shoulder seam. The queen accessorized with a set of hoops featuring diamond starburst pendants for a touch of glamour and a sporty Apple Watch, while her center-parted hair was pulled back into an artfully undone updo.
The Jordanian queen’s birthday is only the second big Rania birthday of the month for the family—earlier this month, the queen’s daughter Princess Iman and her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis welcomed twin baby girls, named Talia and, of course, Rania, after her grandmother.
The queen shared the news on her Instagram along with a set of sweet photos of the family, including herself and her husband, King Abdullah II, holding the babies, along with the caption “Healthy, happy, and finally here. We’ve been waiting so long to meet you, Talia and Rania♥️♥️ Congratulations Iman, Jameel, and sweet big sister Amina”
The new additions make Queen Rania a grandmother of four, following the birth of Iman’s first child, Princess Amina, in February 2025, and Rania’s son Crown Prince Hussein and his wife Princess Rajwa’s daughter, Princess Iman, 2024.
