A new 9/11 documentary featuring interviews with Billy Crystal, Matthew Broderick, and more will air on ABC September 1, exploring how entertainment and popular culture played a role in recovery for Americans following the world-altering attacks. It will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu September 2, and will re-air on ABC September 11. Watch the trailer above.

9/11: United We Stand – 25 Years Later examines of the challenges of navigating the return of culture and how entertainment provided a grieving nation with ways to cope and find a sense of normalcy, as told by the performers who lived it, including Broadway favorites such as Billy Crystal and Matthew Broderick (who specifically discusses his experience performing in the Tony Award-winning hit production of The Producers, which opened just a few months prior to 9/11), as well as other major players in American culture, including former Yankees player Derek Jeter, former New York Giants player and current Good Morning America host Michael Strahan, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Pete Davidson, Jon Bon Jovi, and many more.

Throughout the documentary, they reflect on where they were the moment the attacks began, their experiences throughout that harrowing day and the days following, and their thoughts on how media and popular culture helped Americans find hope and rediscover joy, from the very first Mets game post-9/11 (with Liza Minnelli singing “New York, New York” to the crowd) to the concerts and Broadway musicals that brought Americans from all across the country back to New York City.
