11/7; 6 p.m.—A Department of Corrections and Community Supervision employee was found dead Friday morning at the Marcy Correctional Facility.
New York State Police reported that at approximately 8:05 a.m., 55-year-old Abdalla Hadian was discovered deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Hadian, a civilian Imam, had recently returned to work after medical leave.
Authorities do not suspect foul play.
A handwritten note was found at the scene and is being translated as part of the investigation.
The body has been sent to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office for examination.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is working with the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision on the case.
A Critical Incident Stress Management Team has been deployed to support the staff at Marcy.

MARCY, N.Y. — New York State Police and the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision are investigating after a civilian staff member entered Marcy Correctional Facility Friday morning and took his own life with a firearm he produced.
Staff immediately began life-saving measures at the administration building, and EMTs and law enforcement were called to respond, but they were unable to save the individual.
NYSDOCCS Commissioner Daniel F. Martuscello III and the Office of Special Investigations responded to the scene.
The Critical Incident Stress Management Team is also at Marcy to support staff in the wake of the tragedy.
The NYSDOCCS said their thoughts are with the man’s family and co-workers who witnessed the tragic incident.Â
