Daniel Romano, owner of D’Romano’s Pizza in the Bronx, was moved to action after seeing a woman eating from the restaurant’s trash. He brought her inside, gave her a fresh slice, and placed a handwritten sign outside offering free pizza and water to anyone in need.
As news of his compassion spread, people nationwide began calling to donate money to fund free slices. What started as one act of kindness has grown into a widespread effort to feed those in need and remind the community that everyone deserves dignity and support.
