WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Governor Kathy Hochul announced the second round of the Building Recreational Infrastructure for Communities, Kids and Seniors (NY BRICKS) grant program, making $75 million available to municipalities and nonprofit organizations to build, renovate and modernize community centers statewide.
Grants will range from $250,000 to $15 million, with priority given to projects in underserved communities. Recipients must provide a 20 percent match toward total project costs.
“Strong communities need places where people can come together, stay active and build lasting connections,” Hochul said. “Through this $75 million investment, we’re giving municipalities and nonprofits the resources to build and improve community centers that serve New Yorkers of all ages.”
Application timeline
The Request for Applications is available at Dasny.org/bricks and parks.ny.gov. Questions must be submitted by September 30, with answers posted by October 26.
Applications open November 2 through the DASNY Grants Application Portal and are due by 3 p.m. December 7, 2026. Awards are expected no earlier than February 26, 2027. Nonprofit applicants must be prequalified in the Statewide Financial System before applying.
Program background
NY BRICKS is part of Hochul’s Unplug and Play initiative. The first round awarded $100 million to 30 projects in 22 counties, expected to serve nearly 400,000 New Yorkers, with more than 90 percent of funding supporting underserved communities.
Related state initiatives include NY SWIMS, which has announced nearly $260 million for 79 swimming facility projects, and NY PLAYS, which is making $67.5 million available for playgrounds.
