Ontario, N.Y. — A Wayne County man is facing a dozen felony charges after thousands of images and videos containing suspected child sexual abuse material were found on his cellphone, according to New York State Police.
The case began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received multiple CyberTipline reports involving apparent child sexual abuse material uploaded through the Kik messaging platform.
Casey Behrendt, 47, of Ontario, was identified as a suspect, state police said. Authorities executed a search warrant July 28 at his home on Furnace Road, seizing several electronic devices.
A forensic examination later uncovered thousands of images and videos containing suspected child sexual abuse material on a cellphone, state police said.
Behrendt surrendered to state police Thursday and was charged with two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 10 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail for arraignment.
