CITYWIDE — THE NEW YORK CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT and the public school system are reminding families to get their school-age kids vaccinated ahead of the 2026-2027 school year. That includes children in public, private or parochial school, as well as those in daycare, Head Start, pre-K or nursery school.
The only children who do not require vaccination are those with medical exemptions — there are no religious exemptions in New York. Public schools kick off Thursday, Sept. 10, while private and religious schools have their own start dates.
