A report in Columbia Journalism Review detailed the Mamdani administration’s use of Signal, an encrypted messaging app, which could go against city rules. The report says city officials communicated with — and sometimes paid — social media influencers about coverage of the mayor and messaging campaigns.
Anya Schiffrin, author of the report and co-director of the Technology Policy and Innovation concentration at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, joined “Inside City Hall” to discuss her findings.
