BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 42-year-old firefighter died responding to a fire in Brooklyn, according to the FDNY.
Patrick Brady, an 11-year FDNY veteran, was on the roof responding to a fire on Kings Highway when he went into cardiac arrest, according to officials. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died shortly after.
Brady came from a long lineage of firefighters, Mayor Eric Adams said. His brothers, cousin and uncle are all active or retired firefighters.
“This family is a firefighter family,” Adams said. “They have been dedicated to protecting the lives of New Yorkers, and we will all cherish Patrick’s memory.”
First Deputy Commissioner Mark Guerra said it’s the second FDNY death in just two weeks.
“He lost his life protecting the citizens of the city of New York,” Guerra said.
