On average, there are more shootings and murders in the summers in New York than there are at other times of the year, but this year, the NYPD is reporting a historically safe summer.
In the beginning of the summer, WNYC’s All Things Considered talked about summer violence with Camara Jackson, the founder and CEO of Elite Learners, a community based organization in Central Brooklyn that provides mentorship and focuses on violence prevention for youth and at-risk individuals.
