SARATOGA COUNTY, NY (WRGB) — Another county in the Capital Region is considering a ban on Kratom.
Saratoga County Board of Supervisors announced on Friday that the Public Safety Committee approved a ban on Kratom products being sold in the county.
The legislation will be considered by the Law and Finance Committee and by the Board of Supervisors at the September 15th meeting.

Kratom is a plant whose leaves are often used to self-treat conditions. However, it contains a compound known as 7-OH that can be concentrated and sold as gummies or tablets, and has been linked to overdose deaths.
Albany County announced a Kratom ban in August; shortly after, Rensselaer County announced a proposal to also ban the sale of Kratom products.
Back in December, the governor signed a package of bills that regulate the sale of Kratom products in New York.
