NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. (PIX11) — Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water at dozens of beaches in New York ahead of Labor Day.
The Nassau County Department of Health issued the advisory on Sunday as a precaution for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall.
Stormwater runoff can affect bathing water quality by raising bacteria levels.

The advisory is expected to be lifted at 9 a.m. on Monday.
