QUEENS (PIX11) — Three teenagers were injured in a crash on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens on Saturday night; two of them were violently thrown from the vehicle during the impact, police said.
Officials said a 19-year-old was driving a 2020 Toyota Camry and attempted to merge from the left lane into the middle lane when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a 2008 Honda Accord. The crash happened near 154th Street around 9:14 p.m.
The 19-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger were thrown from the Camry onto the roadway. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to police.
The 16-year-old and an 18-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Police said the Honda Accord was driven by a 42-year-old man, with a 36-year-old woman as the passenger. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The woman was not injured.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
