Queens Chronicle – Gearing up for school in FoHi

Area leaders helped youngsters prepare for a new school year with a backpack giveaway at Forest Hills Stadium Tuesday.

Sponsored by City Councilmember Lynn Schulman, center, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz and state Assemblymember Andrew Hevesi in collaboration with U.S. Rep. Grace Meng, the event gave free knapsacks, notebooks, pencils and more to children in attendance.

Among the giveaway’s other partners were the stadium, the nonprofit Metro Village of Forest Hills, Community Board 6, Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York and NY Sun Works.
