Everyone loves a good fall festival. It’s our way of admiring the most colorful season of all, from enjoying seasonal eats to embracing the cooler air. And as is tradition in Jersey City, the All About Downtown Street Fair is one of the first fall festivals on our radar this year. Hosted by the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID), this festival is returning for its 15th anniversary on Saturday, September 19th. It will transform Newark Avenue between Grove Street and Monmouth Street into a lifestyle destination with vendors, family fun, and more. About the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID)
The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) is a public-private partnership (and 501c3 organization) that connects local businesses, associations, and property owners to keep downtown Jersey City thriving.
The non-profit is the mind behind the All About Downtown Street Fair, which has been a Jersey City tradition for over a decade. HDSID also organizes various events throughout the year, including the Farmer’s Market, Happy Holiday Handmade Market, Groove on Grove summer series, and more.
The Event Details
The All About Downtown Street Fair began in 2011 and has been an essential Jersey City event since. The event stretches between Grove Street and Monmouth Street on Newark Avenue, transforming the commercial corridor into a destination with vendor pop-ups, family-friendly activities, a stage for live music performances, and more.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 19th, from 12PM to 8PM, and will be made possible by HDSID’s supportive sponsors. It will also feature a brand-new collaboration with Departed Soles Brewing Co. – a limited-edition Departed Soles + HDSID custom IPA (including a gluten-free version) at the HDSID and Departed Soles tents.
Music enthusiasts will be happy to know the event will once again feature live performances all day, with a stage and lineup curated by Rock-it Docket. Also be on the lookout for the usual beer garden (we recommend Left Bank’s Reggae Zone on Jersey Avenue or Keyhole’s on Bay Street).
HG pro tip: If you’re looking for a good drink to accompany your day out, check out the HDSID Tent on Newark Avenue + Grove Street. It has so many options, including Hennessy-sponsored cocktails, the Departed Soles IPA, and classic $5 beers.
There will also be plenty of family-friendly programming, including kids’ rides, games, interactive experiences, and photo opportunities. Tickets for rides will be available for purchase in the Kidzone.
