Queen’s Park Cricket Club stalwarts Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, and Sunil Narine were honored at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad ahead of a CPL match between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors, where the Trini Posse Stand was renamed the Bravo, Pollard, Narine Stand.
The trio, members of the West Indies’ 2012 T20 World Cup-winning team, were recognized for their outstanding T20 careers.
Bravo is a former record-holder for T20 wickets, Pollard is the format’s leading run-scorer, and Narine is the CPL’s all-time leading wicket-taker and second on the overall T20 wicket-taking list.
Bravo spoke about his strong connection to the club, while recalling his role in West Indies’ T20 World Cup triumphs in 2012 and 2016.
“This is a club that I joined when I was eight years old,” Bravo shared, “Thirty-four years of my life, I spent in this club. This club means a lot to me. It’s the only club I represent. It’s the only club I am proud to say is the best club in the world.”
His father, John, proudly witnessed the honor and said it would inspire the next generation.
“Of course, that’s a great achievement, and I hope that he continues with his success,” John said. “It’s a good achievement for them [young players] to watch and see what’s going on, put their minds to it, settle, and see what they want in life. Nothing is impossible to achieve.”
Pollard expressed his gratitude for the honor, despite missing the West Indies’ 2016 T20 World Cup triumph due to injury.
“As three young individuals coming from where we come from, we stand here, very proud of this moment,” Pollard said.
“We see these guys, and it has been a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, a lot of discipline, and we could not have been; this could not have happened without the support of each and every one of you,” Pollard added.
Narine, who also missed the 2016 World Cup campaign, also thanked Queen’s Park for the honor.
“This is still something that I will cherish, probably one of the special days in my life, being able to have a stand with coaching staff, coaches, and Pollard as well,” Narine said.
