NEW YORK (PIX11) — Commuters from a New Jersey town saw the return of a ferry service to New York City on Tuesday.
NY Waterway restarted providing direct ferry service for Belford in Middletown, New Jersey to Lower Manhattan and Jersey City on Tuesday.

The ferry company previously served Belford between 2002 and 2022.
“Providing residents and visitors with convenient transportation options is an important part of keeping our communities connected and supporting the continued growth of Monmouth County,” said Monmouth County Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “My fellow Commissioners and I look forward to working with NY Waterway to ensure commuters have a safe, reliable and efficient experience.”
On weekday mornings, the first ferry will depart Belford at 5:15 a.m. and arrive at Pier 11 by Wall Street by 5:55 a.m. Additional stops will be made at Brookfield by the World Financial Center and at Paulus Hook in Jersey City. There will be five more trips in the morning, with last ferry departing Belford at 9:30 a.m.
The first ferry going back to Belford departs Pier 79 in Midtown at 3:15 p.m. After making stops in Jersey City and Brookfield, the ferry will stop at Pier 11 at 3:45 p.m, before continuing onward to Belford, arriving at 4:30 p.m. The last ferry leaving for Belford from Pier 11 departs at 7 p.m., arriving at 7:45 p.m.
There will also be service on the weekends. In the morning, there will be three trips to Manhattan from Belford. For the return trip, there will be two trips heading back to the New Jersey community in the afternoon and evening.
One–way fare for adults is $23, and several discounted multi-trip fares will also be available.
