TOWN OF CHAMPION, New York (WWNY) – The pedestrian killed in a crash with an SUV in the Town of Champion has been identified as Christopher M. Perciful, 45, of Watertown, according to state police.
Perciful was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the crash, state police said.
State police said Perciful was living in a hotel in West Carthage.
The crash happened near Conroy Drive on State Route 126 around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to state police. The highway was closed until 9 a.m.
State police said the driver of the SUV was 53-year-old Jeramie Palladino, of Carthage. Palladino was driving toward West Carthage when the pedestrian was hit, troopers said. The pedestrian was in the roadway wearing dark clothing, according to troopers.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene but left without a patient.
West Carthage Fire Department, Carthage Area Rescue Squad and New York State troopers responded to the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, state police said.
