The contrast therapy brand will open its first New York studio in Tribeca this fall, with two more locations already in the works
SweatHouz is officially coming to New York City, confirming plans reported by Athletech News earlier this year to bring its private sauna and cold plunge concept to Tribeca as the first of at least 12 studios across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The national recovery brand, also known as SWTHZ, will open at 30 Warren St. in October, marking its entry into one of the country’s most competitive wellness markets.
The Tribeca studio will feature eight private contrast therapy suites, each equipped with an infrared sauna and cold plunge, along with Vitamin C showers.
It will also debut the PentHouz, a new private group suite designed for four to six people that SweatHouz plans to bring to select markets as it grows.
The roughly 60-minute SweatHouz experience is built around privacy, giving members their own sauna and cold plunge rather than requiring them to share communal recovery amenities.
When ATN spoke with SweatHouz’s New York franchise group in February, the team was finalizing its Tribeca lease, with ambitions to eventually bring as many as 12 locations to Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
SweatHouz now says at least 12 NYC studios are planned through its development agreement with the Wasi Family Group, with a second and third location already in the works. A lease has been signed for an upcoming East Village studio.
“And with the Wasi family as our partners, this is just the start,” SweatHouz CEO Nico Varano Jr. said. “We’re bringing SweatHouz across Lower Manhattan.”
The Tribeca studio will also include a 22-by-10-foot event room for wellness pop-ups, sound baths, meditation, breathwork and small-group yoga, as well as private and co-branded events.
The space adds a social component to a concept largely built around private recovery. In ATN’s initial reporting, the franchise group said it saw an opportunity to tap into New York’s event-driven wellness culture alongside the core individual experience.
SweatHouz has grown to more than 100 studios nationwide and says it delivered 1.9 million private recovery sessions last year. The company has awarded more than 500 franchise licenses as it continues its national expansion.
