Centeral New York’s water authority shared details Wednesday about upcoming projects in the area.
Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) officials said they’re building two parallel transmission lines: an Eastern Main Transmission Main project between the OCWA facility and the Micron Campus on the Clay/Cicero border and a Clear Water Transmission Main project that will run between the OCWA facility and the treatment plant in Oswego.
The first phase is survey work, which started Wednesday. It will take one year for the first project and two years for the second.
Officials say it’s setting the area up for future growth.
“Right now, it is a single line that is going across these two mains. We are building a second line so if there is an issue, that we would have that critical redundancy to make that sure folks can stay in water,” OCWA Executive Director Jeff Brown said.
