When we think about the heroism of Sept. 11, we often think of the first responders who ran toward danger. But there are also stories of everyday people who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances and had to step up.
That includes a group of daycare teachers who suddenly became responsible for dozens of babies and young children as the World Trade Center came under attack.
The teachers from the Children’s Discovery Center, which was located inside 5 World Trade Center, sat down with filmmaker Rebecca Liss to tell the little-known story of how they sprang into action without knowing what would happen next.
Liss worked with the nonprofit news site Retro Report to produce the documentary and joined “Mornings On 1” to discuss their story.
