Former firefighter reflects on experience in New York City during 9/11 aftermath
WARREN COUNTY, Ohio —
Warren County is marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a display of artifacts and a memorial ceremony to honor the lives lost and the heroes who emerged.
Tim Klenk, a former Turtlecreek Township firefighter, shared his experiences delivering equipment and donations to New York City just days after the attacks.
“I ended up spending several days helping out, distributing equipment, supplies, and masks to people working downtown,” Klenk said.
He returned to New York for several years, reuniting with first responders he worked with and bringing back mementos.
Those artifacts are on display at the Warren County Administrative Building, where they will remain available for viewing throughout September.
Friday morning, Warren County leaders will hold a memorial ceremony to honor the lives lost and the heroes of September 11, 2001. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Memorial Drive.
