BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Brooklyn FC announced on Thursday it had signed midfielder Anthony Fontana for the remainder of the 2026 USL Championship season. The transaction was completed prior to the USL Championship Roster Freeze on Monday, Sept. 7.
Fontana will be available for selection in Brooklyn’s contest against Miami FC on Saturday night at Maimonides Park (7 p.m. ET | ESPN+).
“We are excited to add Anthony to the squad we have here,” said BKFC Head Coach Marlon LeBlanc. “His ability to create attacking opportunities is a welcome addition and he can make an immediate contribution to the team.”
The 26-year-old most recently competed in the USL Championship for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, where he recorded five goals and two assists during the 2025 season.
A native of Newark, Delaware, Fontana came through the Philadelphia Union academy, making his debut with the MLS squad at the age of 18. He competed in the USL Championship as a member of Union II, recording 49 appearances in the league over four seasons.
Fontana was a part of the Union squad that won the MLS Supporters Shield in 2020 and competed in the Concacaf Champions League the next season. He scored 12 goals in more than 50 appearances for the club.
