New York City’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony

NEW YORK — Friday marks 25 years since the Sept. 11 terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Friday’s milestone anniversary will bring memorial rituals — wreath-laying, flag-flying, moments of silence, vigils and readings of victims’ names. Ceremonies are planned in lower Manhattan, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to commemorate the lives lost. This year’s ceremony will include a moment of silence for those who have died of illnesses in the aftermath of the attacks.
