Today marks 25 years since the disappearance of Michele Harris in Tioga County.
Harris was reported missing from her home in Spencer in the early morning hours of September 12, 2001, having last been seen in the late night hours of Sept. 11. She is presumed dead and her remains have never been found.
Michele’s estranged husband, Cal Harris, who state police investigated for years, was twice convicted of her murder, but both convictions were later thrown out.
A third trial ended with a hung jury, leading to a fourth and final trial in 2016, where a judge found Harris not guilty.
Last year, Cal Harris offered a $100,000 reward to anyone who came forward with information leading to the recovery of Michele’s remains.
New York State Police, who conducted additional searches for evidence in the case last year, encourage anyone with information about Michele’s disappearance to call their tip line at (607) 561-7400.
