More than 200,000 tons of steel were left in the rubble of the World Trade Center site.
As recovery workers began collecting the steel, some of the twisted and broken portions were put on display as symbols of the city’s resilience, as well as a way to honor the victims.
The new book “Scattered Steel: The Afterlife of the World Trade Center” traces the journeys that those pieces of steel have made in the last 25 years to all 50 states and several countries around the world.
The book’s co-author, Samuel Holleran, sat down with NY1’s Rocco Vertuccio with more.
