The woman was delivering a package of hair products to an apartment when she was attacked, according to Niesha Sosa.

The suspect fled the scene following the attack. No arrests have been made.

The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of delivery workers at New York City Housing Authority properties on Staten Island.

About three weeks ago, officials announced $1 million in federal funding for security upgrades at the building. Planned improvements include installing security cameras in the lobby, outside the building and in elevators.

The investigation remains ongoing.
