ESOPUS, N.Y. — An Ulster Park man faces numerous felony weapons charges after police said they discovered multiple large-capacity magazines at his residence while investigating an order of protection violation.
State police said in a press release on Monday, Sept. 14, that troopers out of the Highland barracks responded to a home on Broadway in the Ulster Park hamlet on Monday, Sept. 7, for a report of an order of protection violation.
Authorities said that an investigation revealed that Andrew K. Chamberlain, 52, of Ulster Park, was in violation of an order of protection and he was arrested. Police added that due to statements made concerning his welfare and the welfare of others, a temporary emergency risk protection order was implemented before his arrest.
A part of the temporary emergency risk protection order procedure, authorities said, troopers searched Chamberlain’s home and discovered six large-capacity magazines.
Police said Chamberlain was processed at the Highland barracks without incident and charged with six felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon (ammunition-feeding device) and one misdemeanor count of criminal contempt.
Chamberlain was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket for Esopus Town Court.
