Detectives in Brooklyn are still investigating after a woman was found dead inside her apartment early Monday.
While the death has yet to be deemed a homicide officially, police sources described the woman’s death at suspicious.
According to police sources, cops were called to 314 79th St. in Bay Ridge following a wellness check at around 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 14. Inside the first-floor apartment, they discovered a 59-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive. She had suffered head trauma, authorities said.
EMS responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her identity is still pending proper family notification.
An influx of investigators and news of the death left residents rattled, according to ABC7. A neighbor to the victim told the outlet that she was left stunned.
“I’ve never seen something like that,” Maria Serrano said. “That’s why when I lock the door I put the three locks on the door because you never know.”
The office of the Chief Medical Examiner will officially determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
