Ellen Greene, who memorably created the role of Audrey in the original Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors and then preserved her acclaimed performance in the film version, is currently hosting 40th anniversary screenings of the Frank Oz-directed film around the country.
Little Shop of Horrors: 40th Anniversary Screening, which is produced by The Stander Group, launched in August at the Fox Performing Arts Center before heading to San Francisco and additional cities. Producer Scott Stander announced that the tour will play an evening at New York City’s Town Hall February 20, 2027, at 8 PM.
Attendees, it should be noted, will not only be treated to the
screening of the 1986 cult film and a live interview with Greene, but
the Tony-nominated performer will also share her heartbreaking,
definitive rendition of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s “Somewhere
That’s Green.”
An exclusive meet-and-greet package is also available and includes signed memorabilia and photo-op with stage and screen star Greene. Greene created the role of the lovably good-hearted Audrey in the Off-Broadway, Los Angeles, and London productions of Little Shop of Horrors and
was subsequently chosen to reprise the part in the 1986 cult film opposite Rick Moranis. She
also re-envisioned her Audrey opposite Jake Gyllenhaal at New York City
Center in summer 2015. On Broadway Greene was seen in Rachael Lily Rosenbloom and Don’t You Ever Forget It, The Little Prince and the Aviator, Three Men on a Horse, and Threepenny Opera (for which she was nominated for a Tony). Some of her Off-Broadway credits include The Nature & Purpose of the Universe, Teeth & Smiles, and for The Public Theater, In the Boom Boom Room and The Sorrows of Stephen. Her numerous films include Next Stop, Greenwich Village; The Professional; Talk Radio; One Fine Day; and The Cooler, while her TV credits include Glory! Glory! for HBO (Ace Award nomination), Dinner at Eight, Aunt Vivian in Pushing Daisies, and Sylar’s mother in Heroes. She was also a guest star on The Walking Dead and Hannibal. In 2009, she played Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls at the Hollywood Bowl.
