A student at the Queens School for Career Development in Jamaica was arrested for bringing a loaded firearm to class on Monday.
Police from the 113th Precinct in Jamaica responded to a 911 call just after 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 regarding a firearm found inside a backpack during a security screening at the school located at 142-10 Linden Blvd. A 17-year-old male student was taken into custody as a person of interest. There were no injuries reported following the incident.

After questioning, the student was arrested and booked at the 113th Precinct, where he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon-loaded firearm in school.
QNS reached out to the city’s Department of Education and is awaiting a response.
Queens School for Career Development offers a range of programs designed to foster intellectual achievement as well as social growth. It is part of NYC Special Schools – District 75, which provides specialized education for students with disabilities, serving grades 9 through 12.
