SALINA, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to an upcoming closure of the Onondaga Lake Parkway.
The Department of Transportation said that the parkway, also referred to as State Route 370, will be closed to traffic in both directions between Park Street and Oswego in the Town of Salina from 3 p.m. on Sept. 20 to 3 p.m. on Sept. 27.
The closure is for bridge work.
The Onondaga Lake Parkway bridge is commonly struck by large vehicles trying to go under it. The drive up to the bridge has multiple signs alerting truck drivers that the bridge is low. The clearance for the bridge is 10 feet and 9 inches.

A truck driver was ticketed for striking the bridge in August. In June, the bridge was struck by a large box truck at 3 a.m. In May, the bridge was struck by a cement truck trying to pass underneath it.
There have been multiple more instances over the last several years.
The Department of Transportation noted that the construction is weather-dependent.
