In the coming months, New York state will mail out energy rebate checks of up to $200 to more than 8 million households across the state.
The Hochul administration says the move is to alleviate costs for New Yorkers dealing with higher energy bills this summer. However, the governor’s critics are saying the checks are coming too close to Election Day.
Gov. Kathy Hochul joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss this and more.
“This is a continuation of what I’ve doing for years,” she said.
“When I see an opportunity to put money back in people’s pockets, I’m going to take it,” Hochul continued.
