For the fourth time this season, the New York Giants blew a 10-or-more-point lead on the road to go on to lose a game. This time it was to the Bears in Chicago, 24-20.
It was the Giants’ 11th consecutive loss away from MetLife Stadium, which set a new franchise record for futility on the road.
The Giants are now 2-8 and are ranked dead last in the NFC thanks to the New Orleans Saints‘ victory over Carolina on Sunday. If the 2026 NFL draft were held today, the Giants would have the third overall selection, just like they did this year.
There’s not much anyone can do to help this team. Their roster is razor-thin thanks to another spate of debilitating injuries, and the trade deadline has passed, so the outside avenues to improve are shut. The cavalry is not coming.
“Man, honestly, nobody’s gonna save us. This is a long season we got, and this is a war that we’re in. And it’s going to be on us to get ourselves out of it,” linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux said.

Thibodeaux is right. Only the people in that room can help them climb out of this huge hole they’ve dug for themselves. They allowed four winnable games to slip through their fingers. If they knew how to close out games, they’d be 6-4 instead of 2-8.
But they don’t. Their defense has been like a sieve in the fourth quarter this year, and their offense is still reeling from the loss of star wide receiver Malik Nabers and rookie running back Cam Skattebo. If it weren’t for the heroics of their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, this team would be completely lost and unwatchable.
Now Dart is hurt, having suffered a concussion at the end of the third quarter on Sunday. He’ll be in the protocol, which means he likely won’t be in the lineup when the Giants host the Green Bay Packers at MetLife this Sunday.
