ELBRIDGE, N.Y. — Drone footage released by the New York state Attorney General’s Office is providing new details in the fatal shooting of an Elbridge man during a lengthy standoff last month.
The video shows a SWAT team drone looking into a window at 62-year-old Fredrick Marty inside his home on Aug. 23.
In the footage, Marty points a gun at the drone. It is unclear whether he actually shot at the drone.
The video then shows Marty being struck by a bullet and falling to the ground. Authorities have said Marty was shot and killed by a SWAT officer inside his home.
The standoff lasted more than five hours at a mobile home park on Route 5 in Elbridge. Authorities were called to the scene on reports that Marty had been shooting at a vehicle with someone in it. As the standoff continued, other homes in the mobile home park were evacuated.
The Attorney General’s Office will determine whether to clear the SWAT team member who killed Marty or pursue charges.
