Northern New York man arrested for attempting to solicit sex from minors, police say
TICONDEROGA, N.Y. —
A North Country man has been charged with attempted rape and attempted enticement of a minor after police said he tried to solicit underage children online.
The Ticonderoga Police Department arrested Clarence Russell, 75, of Paul Smiths, following an investigation into alleged online solicitation of minors. Russell was arrested on Sept. 5, according to a press release distributed by the department on Wednesday.
Police said Russell had been communicating online with people he believed to be underage children in an effort to arrange sexual encounters.
An investigation is ongoing. NBC5 has reached out to police to learn more about the incident.
