A 59-year-old Bay Ridge woman was found dead with head trauma inside her 79th Street home, and her husband was arrested and charged with murder the following day.

A Bay Ridge woman was found unconscious and unresponsive inside her home Monday morning and later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the NYPD. Her husband was arrested and charged with murder in connection with her death the following day.
Officers from the NYPD’s 68th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting an aided person at approximately 9:34 a.m. on Sept. 14 at a home on 79th Street between Third and Fourth avenues.
Upon arrival, officials added, police found Maria Ines Granda, 59, unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma on the couch in their home. Emergency medical services responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.
The victim’s son had initially called police for a wellness check.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police arrested Mauricio Granda, 47, at approximately 6:22 p.m. on Sept. 15 within the confines of the 68th Precinct. Identified as the victim’s husband, he was charged with murder.
Police did not immediately provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding Granda’s death. The investigation remains ongoing.
