A woman was found dead near a hiking trail in an upper Manhattan park, police said Thursday.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, had a small wound on her back but police said an autopsy will determine if she was the victim of a crime.

She was found in Highbridge Park, which runs nearly three miles from Washington Heights to Inwood, east of Amsterdam Ave. and abuts the Harlem River Drive, about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.

She was found face up in the southern half of the park.

Cops are trying to determine her identity as the city Medical Examiner works to find her cause of death.
