Former New York Yankees player and Grammy-nominated jazz guitarist, Bernie Williams, joins the band in Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway for a limited run from October 22 through November 29. He joins New York Mets alum and recording artist José “Candelita” Iglesias, who has extended his six-week run for another six weeks; now ending November 15.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join Buena Vista Social Club because the music was part of my childhood growing up,” said Williams in a statement. “I remember my mother listening to this music on Sunday afternoons and it reminds me of wonderful times with my family when I was a kid. The opportunity to play that same music on Broadway in this show is truly a dream come true.”

Williams and Iglesias will also be joined by the previously announced TV and film star Gina Torres (Suits, Firefly, 911: Lone Star) from October 13 to November 29, while Tony Award winner Natalie Venetia Belcon takes a leave of absence to star in In the Heights.

Buena Vista Social Club tells a fictionalized story of the same-named band, who reunited in the ’90s to revive a bygone era of Cuban music, decades after the Cuban Revolution upended their careers and their culture, creating an iconic album in the process.
