SYRACUSE, New York (WWNY) – Three north country men face felony weapon and drug charges after a traffic stop Wednesday night on South Avenue in Syracuse, according to New York State Police.
State Police said members of the Community Stabilization Unit stopped a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck around 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday for multiple traffic violations.
During the stop, rear passenger Troy Brothers, 27, of Gouverneur, ran from the truck before being taken into custody.
According to State Police, troopers on scene saw what appeared to be a handgun in the backseat. It was later determined to be a BB gun.
During a search of the vehicle, troopers found a loaded .22-caliber revolver, along with suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The driver, Ryan Rose, 24, of Gouverneur, faces multiple felony weapons counts, aggravated unlicensed operation, drug possession, and four traffic citations; he was held at the Onondaga County Justice Center awaiting arraignment.
Brothers and a third passenger, Jason A. Guinup, 46, of Gouverneur were charged with felony evidence tampering and drug possession. They were issued appearance tickets for Syracuse City Court in October.
