A mother and son washing clothes in a Bronx laundromat were both shot and left hospitalized on Monday evening.
According to police sources, the shooting occurred inside the Astor Laundromat, located at 760 Astor Ave. in Allerton, at around 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 21.
Officers from the 49th Precinct received a 911 call reporting that gunfire erupted in the laundromat. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy and his 37-year-old mother both with gunshot wounds to their right legs.
The officers rendered medical aid to the victims until EMS arrived and rushed them to Jacobi Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Authorities did not immediately have a description of the suspected gunman.
Police are investigating whether the victims were the intended targets or were simply caught in the crossfire. The motive for the shooting was not yet known as of Tuesday morning.
No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.
