Charlie Haney capped his summer with a title at one of golf’s most recognizable courses.

The Manhattan High junior teamed with PGA Tour Champions pro Rory Sabbatini to win the pro-junior boys title Sunday at the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee at Pebble Beach.

Haney and Sabbatini fired a final-round 59 to finish at 22-under par, edging the runner-up duo by one stroke.

The event, an official PGA Tour Champions tournament, paired 80 standout First Tee juniors with PGA Tour Champions players and business-community amateurs across Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

For Haney, 16, the tournament provided another opportunity to compete on a national stage while playing alongside a professional at two of the most recognizable courses in the country.

“I got to play two amazing golf courses, and this was the best week,” Haney told First Tee. “I got to spend time with my dad and all the First Tee participants. I had such a great time with them and met some amazing people.”

The title adds another accomplishment to a summer that has already included several significant finishes for Haney.

He finished runner-up at the Kansas Amateur Championship in July after reaching the championship match, becoming the youngest runner-up in tournament history. He also finished runner-up at the Class 6A state championship in May after losing a playoff at Firekeeper Golf Course.

Haney went on to post top-10 finishes in several national junior events throughout the summer, including fourth at an AJGA event in Arizona, runner-up at the Southern Junior Championship in Georgia and fifth at the First Tee National Championship.

He also recently committed to play collegiate golf at Ole Miss for the next chapter of his career. Haney currently ranks No. 32 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.
