NEW YORK (WABC) — For the first time in 15 years, the iconic five-borough course of the TCS New York City Marathon is changing — but only slightly.

The affected portion involves a roughly mile-long stretch in the Bronx.

The old course had previously looped around a block that included a supermarket, which effectively cut it off from people in the neighborhood during the race.

The new route loops around a different block, completely avoiding the grocery store.

Starting this year, after crossing the Willis Avenue Bridge, runners will:

Make a left onto E 135th Street
Turn right on Alexander Avenue and continuing straight on Alexander Avenue-instead of making a left on E 138th Street
Turn left onto E 141st Street
Turn left on Third Avenue
Turn right onto E 138th Street to continue across the Madison Avenue Bridge
