Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy gathers 21 artists for the second biennial Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival on October 3

The Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival returns Saturday, October 3, 2026, transforming NYC’s first airport into an immersive celebration of art, community, and the landscape of Jamaica Bay. The Festival features 15 new works, projection-mapped to the 8,640-square-foot façade of two monumental airplane hangars. Renowned artists, including Derrick Adams, Randy Polumbo, Wills Glasspiegel, LaJuné McMillian, and Ryan Hartley Smith, will bring their talents to this historic site.
Rooted in themes of water, nature and innovation, the artworks will explore Floyd Bennett Field’s deep connection to the waterfront, a defining element of the site’s prominence in Jamaica Bay and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean – a stretch of New York City coastline where imagination and innovation have always converged.
The center of this artistic celebration is Floyd Bennett Field’s historic airplane hangars, which are currently being revitalized for new uses and future generations. For one night, their art-deco façades are brought to life through light, movement, and digital storytelling. The result is a dynamic interplay between past and present — historic buildings being transformed, reimagined, and seen in an entirely new light.
As one of NYC’s largest outdoor projection-mapped art events, the Festival draws a diverse audience from NYC and the region to enjoy a night of unparalleled art, live music and the natural beauty of the park. Floyd Bennett Field! Public Arts Festival is free and open to all.
