The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) has set initial casting for its second annual production of A Christmas Carol off Broadway, returning for the holiday season from November 20 to January 3.
Three-time Tony Award nominee Andy Karl (Rocky, Groundhog Day, On the Twentieth Century) leads the company as Ebenezer Scrooge. Additional casting for A Christmas Carol has yet to be named.
A Christmas Carol takes place on Christmas Eve, when four ghosts visit Scrooge and urge him to change his miserly ways. This version of Charles Dickens’s classic story is adapted by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and directed by Matthew Warchus, and it features classic Christmas songs like “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” and “It
Came Upon the Midnight Clear.”
Their production of A Christmas Carol premiered at the Old Vic Theatre in London in 2017, and this will mark its 10th consecutive holiday season on stage. In 2019, the production ran on Broadway and later won five Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and multiple design prizes.
